Carjacker Shoots Victim, 2 Accomplices In Botched Robbery
SOUTH GATE (CNS/CBS) — A carjacker shot his intended victim and his own two accomplices in a botched attempt to commandeer an illegal taxi van today in South Gate, a police lieutenant said.
The failed carjacking and shootings occurred near Atlantic Avenue and Firestone Boulevard.
The victim was driving a white Chevrolet van which he was operating as an illegal taxi.
The victim told officers that he became convinced that the gunman was going to kill him in order to steal the van, so he decided to try and take the gun away.
Officers chased down the gunman not far from where they fled the van, and found one of the wounded accomplices hiding in a back yard and another one by a nearby house. All three were arrested.
The suspects will face several charges, including carjacking, kidnapping, attempted murder and armed robbery.
The names of the suspect were unavailable pending booking.
