Deadly Car-To-Car Shooting Reported On 91 Freeway
CERRITOS (CBSLA) -- A car-to-car shooting on the 91 Freeway in Cerritos Friday afternoon turned deadly when the victim succumbed to his wounds.
KCAL9's Stacey Butler says the victim was a 25-year-old male and a resident of Los Angeles.
CHP Officers were able to speak to a witness who called 911.
Authorities are still trying to decide why the gunman opened fire on the driver of a 2018 Nissan Altima around 4:25 p.m. Authorities said there didn't seem to be any indication of road rage.
Witnesses said the shooter was in a green Acura.
"She saw gunshots being fired," said CHP Officer Shanelle Gonzalez.
The westbound freeway was closed for hours. By 10 p.m. there was still no word on when it would reopen, authorities told Stu Mundel who was over the scene in Sky2.
The westbound lanes were closed from Valley View to Brookhurst.
Butler reported the freeway was supposed to reopen around 11 p.m.
