Car Break-Ins At SoCal Beaches, Parks, Spur Warning From Police
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — If you're headed to the beach this summer, you may want to consider leaving everything but your beach ball at home.
KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports police have reported seen a sharp rise in the number of car break-ins in the past month.

In San Pedro alone, there have been at least 21 burglaries reported in the last six weeks — and hiding stuff under the seat or in the trunk has done little to deter the perpetrators.
After only 7 vehicles were targeted from January to April, cars are being burglarized at a rate of between two to four every week.
Police are warning people not to leave their wallet or purse in the car, and if possible to carry their driver's license, keys, and valuables in a pocket.
One driver said he's already putting that advice into practice.
"I never leave my stuff in my car...not even in the trunk," he said. "You just can't trust people nowadays."
The warning comes as visitors are expected to flock to San Pedro for the opening of the USS Iowa on July 7.
