Caltrans Set To Start $380M Construction Project On I-5 Interchange In Santa Fe Springs
SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBS) — Officials are getting ready to begin a $380-million improvement project on the Interstate 5 Carmenita Road interchange in Santa Fe Springs this fall.
The project will replace the existing two-lane steel overpass with a 10-lane concrete structure – nearly five times its current size.
The project will also add 1.2 miles of a carpool lane.

Caltrans says this project, which will be the first of six project planned along the I-5 corridor from Orange County border to the 605, will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
According to Caltrans, 173,000 cars travel this section of the freeway each day.
