Caltrans: I-15 Tanker Spill Causing 2-Hour Delay
LAS VEGAS (CBS/AP) — All southbound lanes of Interstate 15, as well as one northbound lane, have reopened near the California-Nevada state line following an early morning tanker crash and chemical spill.
California Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Croxton says late Friday afternoon that cleanup of the collision will continue for at least four hours and Caltrans said drivers can expect a traffic delay of two hours.
A hazardous materials team is cleaning up 3,000 gallons of corrosive ferric chloride and a small amount of diesel fuel in the center median.
The truck collided with car a little before 6:30 a.m. Friday. No one was hurt in the crash or from the spill.
The interstate is a major route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
