Caltrans Reopens Westbound Lanes Of 60 Freeway
MONTEBELLO (CBS/AP) — Officials say half of the 60 Freeway damaged in a tanker truck explosion is open again.
Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol say the westbound lanes of the busy artery through Montebello were reopened about 11:15 a.m. Saturday, three days after a tanker truck crashed and caught fire beneath the Paramount Bridge overpass.
Although it was not clear when both sides of the 10-mile section of freeway would be open again, Caltrans officials did confirm to CBS2 that it could be as early as 5 p.m.
Workers have demolished the fire-damaged section of the overpass over those lanes, and were working on repairing the freeway concrete Saturday.
