California Highway Patrol Looks To Recruit More Women

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The California Highway Patrol is looking to increase their recruiting of female officers.

Out of 7,459 CHP officers, just 551 of them are women, making up just over seven percent of the department.

Deputy Commissioner Ramona Prieto, who was the CHP's first female motorcycle officer in 1980, spoke of the department as a family and something "you can be proud of".
