California Barista Fired For Posting 'Starbucks Rant' On YouTube
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Starbucks employee has been burned by his own YouTube video.
Christopher Cristwell, a 25-year-old Central California barista, has been canned by the coffee giant after he posted a racist and expletive-laced musical performance online.
While the "Starbucks Rant Song" was made months ago, it's just now going viral. More than 67,000 people have watched Cristwell, who's donning just his underwear and Starbucks' signature green apron, take out his frustration on customers:
Welcome to Starbucks, my name is Chris/I'll be your barista for the day/Can I make a drink for you miss?/I know you've had a s***y day/Well, so have I/I really don't want to care, but I get paid to try/Hello, rich white lady, I already know what you want/You want a skinny vanilla latte young debutant/Well, that drink won't make you skinny; you gotta work for that.
"I can't make everybody happy," Cristwell posted on a Starbucks gossip blog. "I actually love my job and love making the best drinks. "I made this video not for the customer, with whom I love deeply, and not for my managers, with whom I respect and appreciate, but for my fellow baristas. If I was able to provide just a few with some comedic relief after a stressful shift, than I can accept the consequences of my actions. I'm sorry if it offended you, really."
Several of the video's viewers are showing their support for Cristwell.
"Starbucks should pay you $100K to use this as a training video for upper management," one YouTube user writes.
Cristwell has since posted a second Starbucks rant.
