Calif.'s First-Day Powerball Sales Set New Record
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Powerball is clearly a big hit in the Golden State—it set a new nationwide record for first-day sales.
Californians spent $3.1 million in just 24 hours after tickets went on sale at 6 a.m. Monday.
The figure is double the previous record set when Florida first joined Powerball.
Tickets cost $2 a piece.
Drawings are at 8 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday night.
Wednesday's jackpot is an estimated $60 million.
