Calif. Gas Prices Still High Despite Lower Wholesale Costs
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Prices at the pump continued to hover around $5 per gallon in Southern California on Tuesday even though wholesale gas prices decreased.
According to the Oil Price Information Service, the cost of wholesale Los Angeles fuel was down 83 cents since Thursday
However, retail prices for regular unleaded gas went up 30 cents.
AAA said drivers shouldn't expect immediate relief at the pump as prices will go down gradually.
A family-owned gas station in Calabasas inched towards $6 per gallon last week when the historic spike hit the Golden State.
Since then, drivers have noticed the numbers drop to $4.99/gallon for regular unleaded gas.
"I thought it was better, but not good enough," a driver said. "It's ridiculous. I saw the prices again and I still think it's ridiculous."
Meantime, some Angelenos said they will only fill their cars up to $20 or think twice about driving to a certain destination.
"Gotta get from A to B, so you have to pay," said a man.
