Cal State Northridge Student Pleads Not Guilty To Having Gun, Explosive Materials
SAN FERNANDO (AP) — A college student in Southern California has pleaded not guilty to possessing explosive materials and having a gun on campus.
City News Service says California State University, Northridge student David Everson entered the plea to the two felony charges Friday in a courtroom in San Fernando. A judge raised his bail to $1 million and ordered him to return to court Jan. 28.
Campus police Chief Anne Glavin says the 22-year-old was placed in a mental health facility after he made comments that concerned school counselors.
She says police went to his dorm room on Jan. 3 and found a shotgun, and later returned with a search warrant and found bomb-making materials.
