Cal State Northridge Police Hunt For Buttocks-Grabbing Groper

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Cal State Northridge police are on the hunt for a suspect who has been grabbing women's buttocks.

Authorities said at least five cases of groping were reported on Tuesday. The incidents occurred between 11:20 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., said Anne Glavin, the campus police chief.

The incidents occurred just off campus, east of Reseda Boulevard on Prairie and Vincennes Streets, Glavin said.

"He's obviously picking on students," said Glavin.

In some of the cases, the suspect engaged the victim in conversation and then asked for a hug. The man would then grab the women's buttocks before fleeing.

The suspect is described as being in his late 20s with a mustache. He is also described as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall. The suspect carries a backpack and was last seen wearing all black -- hat, T-shirt and pants.

Officials said similar crimes have also been reported to the Los Angeles Police at their Devonshire Station.

Anyone with information about this suspect was asked to call Campus Police Sgt. Detective Dana Archer at (818) 677-3826 or Detective Mark Benavidez at (818) 677-3901.
