Busy Parent's Guide to LA Drive-thru's

It's hard to hop out of the car sometimes to pick up a coffee or grab yourself a sandwich (or a cupcake), especially with kids in tow. Los Angeles is not the most drive-thru friendly city, but we have found a few options apart from the usual suspects to help busy families manage their schedules and their sanity.

Clementine's

Clementine's in Beverly Hills near Century City Mall offers a pick-up service via designated parking spaces in the lot behind their store. Look for the big orange umbrella. Clementine's has a wide array of breakfast and lunch items, as well as family sized dinner entrees, soups and more. Ask for their Heat at Home entrees and Packed to Go sauces. Full menus are available on their website. Clementine's also provides Hollywood Bowl Picnics, Summer BBQ and catering services which can make family gatherings or holidays much easier.

Pink Dot in West Hollywood will deliver groceries and hot meals to you curbside. Just call from the curb and they will run your order out to you. The restaurant is open every day 9am to 3pm, and offers a variety of breakfast entrees and lunch items including breakfast croissants, breakfast burritos, wraps, sandwiches, pizza, salad and pasta. Order ahead of time online or call your order in. They also deliver to Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Hollywood.

Magnolia Bakery on 3rd Street near the Beverly Center will run your freshly baked muffins and coffee out to your car. You have to call in and pay for your order ahead of time. Once there pull up in front of the driveway or loading zone on Orlando Street and call the store for your fresh baked curbside delivery.

Neighborhood favorite Langer's Deli http://www.langersdeli.com/ in downtown Los Angeles will deliver your renowned pastrami sandwich on rye, potato pancakes or knishes to your car door. Its a good thing they offer this service as Langer's is often really busy and it is somethimes hard to find a table, especially at lunch time.

Islands Fine Burgers

Place your order online in the Take Out section and designate pick-up time and the make and model of your car. They will bring your order right to you. California Pizza Kitchen is always an easy meal time solution with kids whether your dine in, order out or pick it up curbside. Their complete menu including kids entrees are on the website. You can order ahead of time over the phone or online. Be sure to verify curbside delivery when you call in. Not all locations have this service.

Gaby's Express Mediterranean

On the West side Gaby's Express Mediterranean features tasty Lebanese food and has three drive-thru locations including two in Culver City and one in Marina del Rey. Options include schawarma, kabobs and falafel as well as salads and veggie side dishes. They also have a kids menu.

Open 24 hours a day the menu includes a long list of Mexican favorites such as tacos and enchiladas as well as American fare. Located near the 110, this drive-thru spot is sure to have something for everyone in the car.

There are ten Starbucks drive-thrus in the greater Los Angeles area including two in North Hollywood, one on Crenshaw Blvd., and one on Lincoln Blvd in Santa Monica / Venice area. Starbucks online (www.starbucks.com) allows you to search stores within a 50 mile radius with certain specifications including Drive-Thrus. Starbucks recently added Bistro Boxes to their food menu. The cheese and fruit, chicken and hummus, tuna salad and protein boxes make a terrific kids lunch. They also carry a variety of paninis, sandwiches and wraps.

There is nothing quite as satisfying on a hot, long day of running around with the kids as a Coffee Bean Iced Blended drink. There are a number of Iced Blended options without coffee in them. Get something for the kids as well! Your kids might like the Strawberries and Cream or Honeydew ones.
