Burglary Suspect Already Has $310,000 in Outstanding Warrants

LOS ANGELES (CBS) - A suspected burglar arrested by police today had $310,000 in outstanding warrants for felony drunk driving, misdemeanor drunk driving and  felony spousal abuse.

According to Sgt. Andy Sutcliffe of the Azusa Police Department, Steve Mata, 33, of Azusa, was spotted by an officer carrying a large  duffel bag in the area of Rockvale Avenue and Hanks Street about 8:15 a.m..  said

Mata dropped the duffel bag and ran into the yard of a home in the 700 block of East Hanks Avenue. Officers saw him running through yards and eventually found him hiding in a hedge in the 700 block of East Haltern Avenue where they also discovered a flashlight, individual pieces of women's jewelry  and recyclables that may have been stolen from the yard of a local residence.
