San Gabriel Complex Fire Remains At 10 Percent Containment
DUARTE (CBSLA.com) — Seven hundred homes have been evacuated in Duarte and Azusa because of a 4,900 acre brush fire burning in the Angeles National Forest.
According to Los Angeles County firefighters, there was zero containment late Tuesday.
The San Gabriel Complex Fire started as two separate fires that merged, the Fish Fire and the Reservoir Fire. Both broke out Monday.
More than 600 firefighters are battling the brush fires, which are separated by about a mile and a half.
Evacuation orders have been issued for areas north of Royal Oaks Drive, west of Encanto Parkway, and east of Mount Olive Road.
Forty-four deputies are keeping an eye on the evacuated areas, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
Sixty-nine people were evacuated from Camp Williams, Heather Flats, Burro Canyon, Crystal Lake, and Cold Brook.
Residents in the Bradbury area are being asked to prepare for evacuation.
Stretches of Glendora Mountain Road and Glendora Ridge Road near the fire are closed.
The Red Cross has set up an Evacuation Center at the Duarte Community Center, located at 1600 Huntington Drive. About 20 families were staying there Tuesday. The shelter offers hot meals, showers and an air conditioned space for pets to anyone who needs services.
Large animals can be taken to the Fairplex in Pomona.
A smoke advisory is in effect for parts of the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire.
