Firefighters On Alert After Saturday's Wildfires, KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports.

The Riverside County Fire Department says the Saturday blaze in Reche Canyon near Colton was fully contained by 8 p.m., about six hours after it started and sent a huge plume of smoke over the inland region.

Thirty engine companies and six water-dropping aircraft took on the blaze at its peak.

No homes or buildings burned, and no one was injured.

A second fire broke out later Saturday in San Bernardino near Highway 18.

The U.S. Forest Service says firefighters were able to halt the growth of that blaze at 40 acres, and there are no reports of damage or injuries.
