Brush Fire Sparked By Car Crash In Malibu; Driver Killed
MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — A vehicle crashed over the side of Malibu Canyon Road north of Pacific Coast Highway Monday, killing the driver and igniting a brush fire, authorities said.
The crash was reported about 11:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Firefighters were working to fully contain the roughly 2-acre blaze by Monday afternoon, the county fire department reported.
The body was found in the vehicle, according to Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Keith Mora. The gender and age of the person were not immediately known.
A section of Malibu Canyon Road was closed between PCH and Piuma Road during the firefighting effort.
