150 Acre Brush Fire Reported In Murrieta
MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — A growing brush fire is reportedly burning rapidly in Murrieta, according to authorities.
The blaze, dubbed the Temprano fire, was reported just after 4:45 p.m.
The fire was reported southeast of Los Alamos Road at Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Winchester Road.
As of 8:15 p.m. Sunday, 150 acres has reportedly burned. Officials said the blaze is moving at a moderate to rapid rate of speed.
CAL FIRE and Riverside County firefighters are reportedly assisting the Murrieta fire department.
A voluntary evacuation center is being opened by the City of Murrieta at Vista Murrieta High School (28251 Clinton Keith Road, 92563).
Murrieta resident Celyn Van Leeuwen told KCAL9 anchors Rob Schmitt and Suzie Suh by phone that huge flames reached "very close" to her home making for some scary moments.
She said the fire appeared to mostly be contained.
Art Barron, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, at 10 p.m. Sunday said officials told him the fire was about 30% contained.
He said there were also unconfirmed reports three structures were lost.
