Rapidly growing brush fire near Palmdale burns 300 acres

Firefighters are battling a brush fire near Palmdale that burned through 300 acres Friday afternoon, authorities said. 

The Deer Fire was first reported near East 35th Street and Avenue Q at 2:17 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The agency said just after 3 p.m. the blaze was 100 acres and firefighters were currently on scene.

An hour later, the wildfire was already grew to 300 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

No other details have been released.
