Firefighters Contain 340-Acre Brush Fire In Fontana
FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — A brush fire that charred 342 acres in Fontana has been contained.
The blaze erupted on the west side of Sierra Avenue just south of the 15 Freeway around 12:18 p.m. Friday.
Officials with the San Bernardino County Fire Department reported that two vehicles were damaged. However, no structures were lost and no injuries were reported.
Rachel Kim, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says that the fire was being driven by 25 mph winds at its peak.
Firefighters said they quickly established lines and dozers, averting serious danger. Around 200 firefighters from across the area were dispatched to the firefight.
