Brown, Whitman Meet For Final Debate
SAN RAFAEL (CBS/AP) — They say the third time's the charm, but a spate of personal attacks may be more of a curse for both Republican Meg Whitman and Democrat Jerry Brown as they meet for the final debate in California's tight gubernatorial race.
Both hope to use Tuesday night's debate at Dominican University in San Rafael to promote their plans for turning around the economically troubled state. It comes just three weeks before Election Day, with some voters beginning to cast their ballots and others just starting to tune in.

Former NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw will moderate. The debate will be the third between the candidates, who have had to fend off controversies in recent weeks.
