Brown Appoints Political Adviser As CSU Trustee
SACRAMENTO (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown has appointed his political adviser and manager of his campaign for governor last year to the California State University Board of Trustees.
Brown announced the appointment of 53-year-old Steve Glazer in a statement Saturday.
Glazer guided the Democratic former governor back into office last year with a 13-point victory over Republican Meg Whitman, who spent $178 million on her campaign.
Glazer, a vice mayor of the Orinda City Council since 2004, has continued to be a top adviser to Brown since he took office in January, although he has no official role in the governor's office.
Brown also reappointed 77-year-old CSU board chairman Herbert Carter of Los Angeles to the board.
Both appointments require confirmation by the state Senate and have a $100 per diem.
