Broken Gas Main Forces Evacuation Of 33 Anaheim Homes
ANAHEIM (AP) — Anaheim officials say residents of 32 homes that were evacuated because of a gas leak have been allowed back in their homes.
Fire Department spokeswoman Maria Sabol says a backhoe operator digging up a street for sewer line work ruptured a 4-inch natural gas main shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.
No injuries were reported.
Sabol says the evacuation was called off about 2 1/2 hours later after a crew from the Southern California Gas Co. pinched off the line and halted the gas flow.
