Brodeur Leaves Game Against Kings
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur didn't return for the second period of the Devils' game against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday because of upper-body soreness.
Brodeur appeared to be hit by a point shot by defenseman Matt Greene with roughly 8 minutes left in the period and he then stopped a rebound attempt by Trent Hunter. Brodeur, who stopped 10 of 11 shots, also fell to the ice after seemingly getting tangled with one of his defensemen.
Brodeur seconds later dove across the crease on a shot that seemingly was just wide.
After the flurry, Brodeur bent over in the crease and later skated to the bench, where a trainer manipulated his right shoulder.
Johan Hedberg took over in goal for the second period.
