Brides-To-Be Seeing Red After Abrupt Closure Of Huntington Park Dress Shop
HUNTINGTON PARK (CBSLA.com) — A Huntington Park dress shop is experiencing backlash from angry customers who say the shop closed abruptly.
Brides-to-be and others told CBS2's Cristy Fajardo that they never received their dresses but tendered deposits at the dress shop on Pacific Boulevard.
The shop has a sign that identifies it as Fresia's Boutique. However, customers received receipts for dresses from the location that identify the place of business as Niceli's Boutique.
"I tried to get ahold of them. Their phone is disconnected. Their email. Nothing. They never returned any calls," said Jesus Quara, a customer. He purchased a $2,800 dress for his daughter's upcoming quinceañera.
According to a neighbor, the shop's owners closed up and disappeared last weekend.
"They need to be in jail so they don't have to [take] money from people that are working hard for their money," said Jose Castor, another customer. Castor says his daughter now has 16 days to find another wedding dress.
"She's very devastated," he added.
The same is true for Brenda Soledad. Instead of being blissful, she said in Spanish that she doesn't know how she'll be able to afford another wedding dress.
A record search shows that the shop has received previous judgments and complaints. It has been in business for approximately two years.
But Quara told Fajardo that they never thought the shop he so frequently walked passed would leave his daughter with nothing to wear on her big day.
"That's the sad part about this. She's gonna find out, and it's going to crush her dreams," Quara said.
CBS2 made attempts to reach the owners of the store for comment but was unable to do so.
