Boys Refuse Christmas Gifts Until Beloved Dog Is Returned
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — "No Christmas until Jackson is home," a sign held by two boys in a photo posted to social media reads.
Jackson is a high-dollar 3-month-old French bulldog the boys' family believes was stolen on Christmas Eve.
Six-year-old Bryson Reiter struggles to hold back tears. "I want you home to have a family Christmas," the boy says about the pet.
He and older brother Blake have vowed to not open their presents until the puppy is returned.
"We need Jackson home because he's our family member, and we need all of our family members to open our presents," Bryson said.
He even wrote to Santa asking for help.
William Reiter and his wife say their boys were playing in the unfenced front yard with Jackson and their other dog, Peaches. The boys went inside, and when they came out, Jackson was gone.
Now, his dog sweaters lay out beside the tree that has a lost dog flier on it.
While Christmas may be on hold here, these parents say they're proud of the stand their sons are taking.
"That shows that they're thinking beyond themselves and it's not just a selfish time, Christmas, but it's supposed to be a together time," the boys' father said.
The family is offering a $2,000 reward for the safe return of the dog. If you know anything, you're asked to call the Riverside Police Department.
