3 Killed, 4 Injured In Shooting At Torrance Bowling Alley
TORRANCE (CBSLA) – Three men were fatally shot and four were injured after a late-night fight at a Torrance bowling alley turned deadly late Friday night.
Police responded around 11:54 p.m. for reports of shots fired at the Gable House Bowl, according to the Torrance Police Department.
When officers arrived, several people were found with gunshot wounds, according to police.
Three men were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital with injuries, said police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Harris.
Two other men were struck by gunfire but "opted to seek their own medical attention," Harris said.
Dwayne Edwards said his son, 28-year-old Astin Edwards, was one of the victims.
"We had to all come up here. They said, 'Get up here quick.' Blood was coming out of his heart" Edwards said. "I'm gonna bury my own kid, you ain't supposed to bury your own kid."
Two other victims have been identified as 20-year-old Michael Radford – who is a new father – and 28-year-old Robert "Tank" Meekins – who is survived by his five-year-old son.
"I can't even explain it. I'm so numb right now. I'm so angry. He loved his son. He only had one. He loved his family," his mother, Anglean Hubbard, said. She added her biggest nightmare is now having to tell her grandson his dad isn't coming home.
"He had his baby to live for. Now somebody took my baby from me. I just lost my mom November the 1st," she said.
There were no reports of injuries to any employees, according to police.
A fight erupted inside the bowling alley, then gunfire was heard, witnesses told the Los Angeles Times.
"A lot of people ran back into the bar area, behind the seats and on the floor and under the benches – people were crying, it was not comfortable," said witness Dana Scott. "People were looking for their parents. Nisei is a family league – so you got mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, you know? Everybody's friends in that league."
A detailed description of the suspected shooter or shooters was not available.
The venue is described on its website as a gaming venue that offers bowling, laser tag and an arcade.
Detectives continue to investigate what led to the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Torrance Police Department at 310-328-3456.
