Body Of Missing Actress Misty Upham Reportedly Found At Bottom Of Embankment
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A post on the Auburn Police Department's Facebook page says the body of a woman was found at the bottom of an embankment Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m.
The statement went on to say that the body was found by one of Misty Upham's relatives.
Upham, a 32-year-old actress known for her work in "August: Osage County," among other films, had been missing for more than a week.
Auburn is a suburb of Seattle.
The body was found, according to the statement, "in a wooded area near Forest Ridge Dr. The body was found at the bottom of a 150 embankment near the White River."
Authorities said a purse containing Upham's identity was also recovered at the scene.
The medical examiner has not made a positive identification or determined a cause of death.
The actress' distraught father told reporters that his daughter was often suicidal but he believed she would never kill herself.
He told a local Seattle TV station, "She believes that is a sin and she would never do that."
Upham said he was concerned about his daughter's well-being because she had stopped taking medication to treat anxiety and a bipolar condition.
Prior to her disappearance, she had texted her parents to say, "You don't need to worry about me anymore."
The actress was also known for roles in "Frozen River" and "Django Unchained."
Upham will be seen next alongside Jennifer Aniston in "Cake."
