Body Found In Pomona Homeless Camp Identified As Missing Mom
POMONA (CBSLA.com) — An Ontario woman, whose body was found in a homeless camp in Pomona, has been identified, and her boyfriend's brother is the suspect in her murder.
A coroner's investigator said Sally Michel Mityas, 33, was stabbed to death. Her body was found in a field near Gillette Avenue and Fairplex Drive Monday. The woman had been dead for several weeks, according to the Pomona Police Department.
The suspect is Tomas Sarinana, the brother of the victim's boyfriend. The 38-year-old is on the lam. There is a $1 million warrant for his arrest.
Mityas was last seen on Sept. 4 leaving her home in the 1600 block of Briar Avenue after a heated argument with Sarinana over money, police said.
The victim left behind three children, ages 7, 5, and 1. Mityas' boyfriend, Eddie Sarinana, is the father of her children.
Friends and neighbor say she was a kind, loving mother, who will be missed.
"I was just in shock because she was such a nice lady," said neighbor Christian Delgadillo. "I'd always say hi to her, and she'd walk out. She'd always be with her children."
Neighbor Anh Le said: "I really really feel sorry for the children."
Ontario police say Sarinana may be driving white utility truck without license plates. He is known to frequent the Inland Empire and the Los Angeles area.
