Burned Body Found In Unincorporated Area Of Covina

COVINA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Tuesday were investigating the death of a person whose body was found in an unincorporated area of Covina.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives were sent to East Covina Hills Road near East Via Verde Street around 3:45 a.m. to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified person, officials said in a statement.

"A sheriff's deputy was driving through the canyon here and saw a body burning on the side of the road," Lt. John Corina said. "He stopped and used a fire extinguisher to put the body out."

Additional information surrounding the person's death was not released.
