Man's Body Found In Refrigerator At Sun Valley House Used In Marijuana-Growing Operation
SUN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Police on Sunday said they found a man's body in an unplugged refrigerator at a Sun Valley home that was used in an illegal marijuana-growing operation.
The LAPD showed up at the house on the 11100 block of Runnymede Street at 5:30 a.m. While there, they found both a body in the refrigerator and a suspected illegal marijuana-growing operation.
The refrigerator was found next to a garage in the backyard.
Officers were on the scene Sunday afternoon interviewing four people, KCAL9's Greg Mills reported. One of those four reportedly called police to tell them about the body. Witnesses said one of the people, a woman, was outside the home and "inconsolable."
Police later said the four people were interviewed and released.
Mills spoke to neighbors who said they "knew" something was going on at the home.
"Three. four days ago, I go in the back and I smell something bad," said Rosa Soto.
"It was probably yesterday that I noticed [the smell] but today more so," said neighbor Mickie Lambert.
Lambert lives next door to where the body was found. She said police woke her up at 6 a.m. Sunday asking what she heard and what she saw.
"It's freaking me out, absolutely freaking me out,' said Lambert.
"I did hear shouting the other night," she said, "But it didn't sound like anything out of the ordinary. Just an argument."
In a neighborhood of mostly Toyotas and Hondas the cars in front of the house where the LAPD is investigating stood out -- a white Jaguar and a silver Bentley. On occasion, neighbors told Mills they've also seen a Maserati parked there.
"There are a lot of people coming and leaving, coming and leaving. We are thinking they had a business," said Soto.
"Whether or not that [the marijuana grow] has something to do with the on-going investigation, of maybe a marijuana or a narcotic issue," said LAPD Lt. Bob Toledo.
No arrests have been made.
