Body Found In Burned Out San Diego Home Positively Identified As 8-Year-Old
SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — The Sheriff's Crime Laboratory in San Diego says they have positively identified the remains of a second body found in a burned out home as 8-year-old Ethan Anderson.
Officials said the boy's identity was ascertained through DNA analysis using the victim's bone marrow.
The boy's mother was also found in the burned out home.
Police said a family friend identified as James Lee DiMaggio, 40, likely murdered the two before abducting the boy's sister, 16-year-old Hannah Anderson.
Authorities believe the two are in Idaho.
San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said that horseback riders reported seeing the duo about 70 miles northeast of Boise on Wednesday. Gore also said it did not appear to the witnesses that the teen was being held against her will.
The children's father, Brett Anderson, said the children thought of DiMaggio as "an uncle."
