Body Found At Tucson Clinic May Be Missing Newport Beach Doctor
NEWPORT BEACH (CBS)— The body of a man matching the description of a missing Newport Beach doctor was discovered on the grounds of a Tucson clinic, authorities said Tuesday.
His body matches the description of Dr. Kenneth Litwack, but the identity of the dead man has yet to be confirmed, Elias Johnson of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.
Litwack, 71, checked himself into the clinic to be treated for pain related to foot neuropathy on August 12 and went missing August 16, according to his wife, Louise Litwack.
He was without his wallet or watch at the time of his disappearance, but an American Express card was missing from his possessions, his wife said.
The official search for Litwack halted on August 23 when an investigation of the area yielded no clues to the doctor's disappearance, Johnson said.
Some of Litwack's friends went toTucson to search for him, and family members mobilized a volunteer group to continue the search.
A $10,000 reward was posted by the Litwack family last week for any credible information leading to Dr. Litwack's whereabouts.
