Board Approves $485M Metro Gold Line Extension
ARCADIA (CBS) — A $485.8 million contract was awarded Wednesday for the extension of the Metro Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa.
The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority chose Kiewit and Parsons construction firms to jointly complete the project.
The project will extend the line 11.5 miles to include the cities of Arcadia, Duarte, Irwindale and Monrovia on the line.
It would also bring 7,000 jobs to Southern California and contribute $1 billion to the local economy over the next four years.
The extension is scheduled to begin in 2012 and be completed by 2015.
