Blaze Pizza Offers Up March Madness-Inspired Pies

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Celebrate the Final Four with March Madness inspired pizzas!

Chef Brad Kent, owner of LA's top-rated Blaze Pizza, visited the KCAL9 studios Friday to show viewers some March Madness pizzas they are cooking up.

Blaze Pizza uses an assembly line format (similar to Chipotle Mexican Grill) to create "fast-fire'd" artisan pizza  in a blazing-hot oven and ready in 120 seconds. The eatery also features signature salads, fresh lemonades, craft beer & wine and house-made S'more Pies.

Blaze Pizza has locations in Irvine and Pasadena with several more opening across the Southland.

Pizzas Inspired by the Final Four Teams:

Louisville Cardinals (Kentucky) - The Hot Brown Sandwich is synonymous with Kentucky. It's a hot sandwich originally created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1926. This classic Kentucky dish is composed of an open-faced sandwich of turkey and bacon, covered in Mornay sauce and baked or broiled until the bread is crisp and the sauce begins to brown

Pizza version - Whole milk mozzarella, herb roasted chicken, sliced ham and our signature white sauce, then topped with bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and shaved parmesan cheese

Wichita State (Kansas) – Kansas means authentic barbeque. In honor of the succulent barbeque served throughout Kansas, we're cooking up a classic barbeque chicken pizza.

Pizza version – Whole milk mozzarella, herb roasted chicken, red onion, pepperoncini, gorgonzola cheese with BBQ sauce drizzled over the top

Wolverines (Michigan) – The American Heartland means meat and potatoes; downhome, classic hearty cooking.

Pizza version - Whole milk mozzarella, steak, sautéed onions, gorgonzola cheese, mushrooms, red onions, garlic and sea salt

Orange (Syracuse, NY) – The classic NY Pizza is thin and crispy. New York was where America's first pizzeria opened (Lombardi's in 1905). Back then they put cheese down then sauce on top, so we'll pay homage to that.

Pizza version - Whole milk mozzarella on the base, dollops of red sauce on the top, finished with oregano and grated parmesan
