Judge Wants More Information In Model's Defamation Case Against Bill Cosby
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge ordered lawyers Monday to provide more information as attorneys for Bill Cosby seek the dismissal of a defamation lawsuit filed against the comedian by model Janice Dickinson in Los Angeles.
Superior Court Judge Debre Katz Weintraub delayed ruling on the motion until March 29.
The comedian's attorneys want the case to be dismissed because they say Dickinson has given differing accounts of her interactions with Cosby over the years.
Dickinson claims Cosby raped her in Lake Tahoe in 1982 and that his former attorney wrote letters to news outlets denying her claims and implying they could be sued if they used them in stories. She says she tried to include the story in a 2002 memoir, but her publisher refused.
Cosby's former attorney has denied her claims and branded the model and reality television star a liar.
Dickinson's suit states the denial caused her to feel re-victimized about the incident. She sued for defamation after the criminal statute of limitations expired.
Dozens of women have accused Cosby of sexual abuse, but in most instances the statutes of limitations have passed.
