Bill Clinton Endorses Wendy Greuel For Mayor Of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former President Bill Clinton is endorsing Wendy Greuel for mayor of Los Angeles.
Greuel, who worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during Clinton's administration, also assisted with the federal government's response to the Northridge quake of 1994.
KNX 1070's Dick Helton reports Clinton specifically referenced Greuel's actions during the disaster nearly 20 years ago.
Clinton endorses Greuel for Mayor
"She knows how to make government work for ordinary people, and she's been doing it for decades, not only when times are good, but especially during periods of crisis," Clinton said in a statement. "I saw that strength of Wendy's first-hand in 1994."
"President Clinton has been a role model for me of what strong leadership can mean in terms of creating jobs and building coalitions," Greuel said in a statement.
Gruel, who currently serves as city controller, will face Councilman Eric Garcetti in a runoff election on May 21.
