Biker Found After 12-Hour Search In Orange County National Forest
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA.com) — A missing mountain biker was found Sunday morning after a 12-hour search in the Cleveland National Forest, east of San Juan Capistrano.
The 49-year-old man from Burbank, who authorities did not identify, was found about 8 a.m. suffering from minor scrapes and cuts but no other injuries, according to Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock.
The biker had become separated from his riding partner around noon Saturday, Hallock said, as they traversed the San Juan Trail from the Blue Jay Campground toward the a fire/ranger station on Ortega Highway.
The riding partner searched for the man for several hours before contacting the Sheriff's Department, Hallock said. The search party consisted of 10-15 people on the ground as well as air support.
On Sunday morning, the missing man was located off the trail about 3 miles east of the fire/ranger station.
