Bike Vs. Jet: SoCal Cyclists Race To Beat 'Carmaggedon' Shuttle
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — While it may be too late to cash in on the special fare offer from Jet Blue for this weekend's 405 Freeway closure, a little friendly competition could make a lot of green for some local biking enthusiasts.
Throughout "Carmageddon" weekend on July 16-17, Jet Blue offered to fly passengers between Burbank and Long Beach for a paltry $4 airfare — an offer that sold out even quicker than the estimated flight time.
But "Roadblock," of the cycling group Wolfpack Hustle says it can get there faster.
He told KNX 1070 the proposition isn't as far of a longshot as some would think.

"The race is going to be close, but I have my money on Wolfpack and so does everybody in the Twitter-sphere as far as I can see," Roadblock said.
One group will reportedly board one of the several Jet Blue flights scheduled for Saturday, while a second group will start pedaling from the San Fernando Valley all the way out to the South Bay.
After somewhat of a debate, the group has decided to time the race from "house to destination" in synchronization with a passenger aboard the flight, including commute times to and from the airport.
"We were originally going to do airport to airport, which is also not a problem, but I think it's going to be more interesting if we do from Burbank to the Long Beach Aquarium, which is a considerably longer distance," said Roadblock.
The group insists they will be heeding the traffic laws during the race, and they're hoping that sponsors will spice up the competition by donating prizes for the winners.
