Big Rig Spills Load Of Onions, Closes Onramp In Vernon
VERNON (CBS) — An overturned big rig dumped a load of onions on an onramp to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway in Vernon early Thursday, closing the onramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The big rig went through a guardrail and tipped over at 3:02 a.m. at the Bandini Boulevard onramp, the CHP said. The driver was not injured.
The onramp was closed while crews worked to fix the guardrail, remove the big rig, and load the spilled onions onto another vehicle. The closure was continuing more than five hours later.
