Portion Of 710 Freeway In Commerce Remains Closed After Big Rig Crash, Fire
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Three lanes of the southbound 710 Freeway will remain closed until at least 5 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.
The closure follows a fiery crash of a big rig in Commerce Sunday morhing.
The rig was carrying more than 8,000 gallons of crude oil.
Authorities say two people were injured after the big rig went over a freeway embankment and caught fire.
The driver was reported to be in critical condition.
The tanker truck collided with another truck just after 9:38 a.m. Sunday on the southbound 710 Freeway at Washington Boulevard.

KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports that the tanker ignited a wall of fire along the embankment and burned several vehicles, some of which exploded.
The fire also sent residents fleeing from their homes and prompted evacuations in the area.
Caltrans officials arrived on scene to assess the structural integrity of the blackened bridge between the Whittier and Washington off-ramp.
