101 Freeway Reopens After Big Rig Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A big rig fire and fuel spill on the northbound 101 Freeway at the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles prompted the closure of all lanes in both directions early Thursday morning.

The fire and a possible explosion were reported at 3:58 a.m. on the northbound 101 Freeway just north of Beaudry Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

All lanes of the northbound 101 Freeway, as well as transition roads from the 110 Freeway to the northbound 101, were closed for seven hours.

The driver, who was not seriously injured, was taken to a hospital.
