Big Rig Carrying 20 Tons Of Asphalt Overturns On 405 Freeway
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A big rig carrying 20 tons of asphalt overturned on the 405 Freeway Sunday, dumping its load.
California Highway Patrol officer Ed Jacobs told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz the tanker was on the right-shoulder of the Normandie on-ramp of the freeway when it overturned in South Los Angeles.

The crash was reported about 12:42 a.m.
CHP says the truck driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Mertz says the load was being transported to a project on the 105 Freeway.
The asphalt clean-up effort took several hours and led to the closure of two lanes on the northbound freeway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
