Beverly Hills Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Armed Robbery After Hours-Long Search
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA) — Police arrested a man suspected of a Beverly Hills armed robbery after an hours-long search.
Beverly Hills police responded at about 5:30 p.m. to a report of a robbery in the 300 block of North Canon Drive. Police said the suspect fired a weapon during the robbery outside of a Rite Aid, but nobody was injured.
"I heard a gunshot," a witness said. "It was pretty loud at the time, spooked everybody, you saw a lot of people walk out of the restaurants, people just in a panic on every corner.
The suspect then ran to Beverly Drive where he threw the firearm into a business and ran into an alley, police said.
"I saw the victim running down this block, and that's when all the police swarmed in," the witness said.
Officers with the Beverly Hills Police Department found the suspect and were able to take him into custody without incident.
"He was hiding in the alley, so I don't have the specific details of where he was found, but he was definitely hiding in the alley to which he fled," Lt. Todd Withers, of BHPD, said.
Police said they were able to recover the weapon the suspect allegedly threw into a men's clothing store.
