Beverly Hills Police Hunt For Stolen Car, Chase Suspect

BEVERLY HILLS (CBS) — Police in Beverly Hills Saturday were searching for a stolen car suspect that led them on a brief chase.

The chase ended on Bowmont Drive and Cherokee Lane, just east of Coldwater Canyon.

The suspect was originally wanted for suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle.

The car was a white 2010 Toyota 4-door.

The driver refused to yield and a pursuit ensued.

Officials said the chase was brief, lasting about 5 minutes.

The suspect, who fled on foot when the chase ended, was described as a male white wearing dark clothing.

Authorities said the suspect ran into some heavy brush in an area where many homes were also under construction.

Los Angeles Police and LA County Sheriff's are assisting in the search, reports Louisa Hodge for CBS2 and KCAL9.

Helicopter and K-9 units were also employed.

Police have searched the homes under construction and didn't find the suspect.

They believe the suspect is contained within a several-blocks perimeter.

One neighbor told Hodge his wife was home with their 4-month-old baby. Kenny Rosen said, "The cops came and there's a cop in the yard with his gun drawn. And my wife thought maybe the suspect was between my property and my neighbor's."

Hodge asked Rosen is his wife was scared. "She said she was scared but that she felt good that the cop was there and in our yard. So hopefully everything is okay."

Police say there is no indication the suspect is armed.
