Beverly Hills Eatery Outs No-Shows On Twitter
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Beverly Hills restaurant has opted for a new tactic when dealing with no-show reservations: take it to Twitter.
Red Medicine, a Vietnamese fusion-style restaurant on Wilshire Blvd., took to the popular social networking site to call out - by first and last name - several people who failed to keep their reservations over the weekend.
Alleged no-show guests Kyle Anderson, Carlos MacManus, Colin Rolfs, Allison Joyce, Sam Java, Daniella Brown, and Matt Lopez were among those named as the reason "why restaurants overbook and they sometimes have to wait for their res."
Red Medicine owner and General Manager Noah Ellis told Eater.com the restaurant no longer overbooks to offset any potential no-show reservations, which only increases the impact that no-shows have on business.
But the controversial strategy of outing people by name was met with mixed reaction online, ranging from "creepy" to "well done".
Back in November, Red Medicine had as many as 41 no-shows and late cancellations in one day, prompting Ellis to ask, "Do we take CCs on all reservations, take deposits, or eliminate reservations altogether?"
But as for suggestions of implementing a ticketing system to help prevent any revenue loss, Ellis said on Twitter the demand was "too little/inconsistent for the number of seats we have" at the two-year-old eatery.
