Best Ways To Celebrate Father's Day In Los Angeles

Playing golf or going dirt biking with your dad on Father's Day are definitely classic bonding experiences, but why not try something different when June 19 rolls around. All kinds of activities to be remembered are on tap in the City of Angels, so consider the following handful that may or may not be on your bucket list as far as sharing an experience with dear old dad is concerned.

How about spending a night under the stars listening to beautiful music with the first man you ever loved? For sure, an evening out at the legendary Hollywood Bowl is going to be a night to remember, made even more so by more than one special occasion. June 18 marks the official seasonal opening of this iconic Los Angeles forum, with Ziggy Marley playing. The Grammy-winner will be playing his own hits as well as those of his father.

If you're looking to get a grip on a Los Angeles landmark with your dad that is both impressive and off-beat, choose to visit Watts Towers. The name of this TK artistic oddity contains some 17 steel girder and mesh sculptures decorated with everything, from ceramic pieces to glass bottles to sea shells. The artist, Simon Rodia, created these amazing structures between the years 1921 and 1954, ultimately coming up with works that are shockingly tall, amazingly complex, and so admired that the City of Los Angeles deemed his Watts Towers a National Historic Landmark.

The Blind Barber
10797 Washington Blvd.
Culver City, CA 90232
(310) 841-6679

Although you and your dad are able to share grooming experiences like shaves and hair cuts at this feisty Culver City establishment, the real fun is found in the secret speakeasy located in The Blind Barber's back room. It is there that drinks are aplenty, with inventive cocktails bearing names like the Moscow Mule (made with Green Mark vodka and ginger beer) and the Jack Daniels' based Smoke & Dagger and where you be inclined to throw back a few while munching on such tempting treats as truffle popcorn and sweet chili chicken tacos, all  while enjoying an entertaining environment that will make memories of this annual get together for years to come.
