If you are among the truly fortunate, you get to spend your life, or at least your summer, in Orange County. Of special summer significance is the wealth of annual OC Fourth of July celebrations. Food, fun and a festive street fair welcome visitors to the 109th Huntington Beach 4th of July Celebration. A patriotic fireworks display commences at night, but the celebration itself kicks of at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning. The festivities continue all through the weekend, though the fireworks show will take place on July 4 exclusively.

A fulfilling and beautiful Independence Day awaits you at Dana Point Harbor, the site of the Dana Point July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza. Bring a radio, or plant yourselves next to someone who has one, and tune in to KSBR 88.5 FM to experience the synced-up music and brightly colored aerial bombs. A free shuttle from Dana Hills High School to the Extravaganza will be available from 10 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.

For a delightful, though not overly crowded or crazy Independence Day event and venue, head to Aliso Viejo Grand Park. Beginning at 6 p.m., delight among entertainers, musicians and face painters while you enjoy food, carnival-style games and a bouncy house. Enter or eat your way through the Aliso Viejo Community Association all-American homemade apple pie contest. Proceeds will benefit local non-profit organizations. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Please leave your pets at home.
