Best Halloween-Themed Stage Performances In Orange County

Halloween is that time of the year to bring out the ghoulish affairs and dress up in costumes. Many celebrate the holiday all month! If an entertaining night full of scares, ghoulish zombies and spooky performances sounds right up your alley, here are some of the best stage performances for Halloween in Orange County.

Set aboard an 18th-century Spanish galleon, the swashbuckling cast showcases a special pirate's dinner every day in October in honor of Halloween. Enjoy a two-hour "chilling" show with a four-course meal and costume contest. The Treasure Bay's annual Masquerade Ball is the theme while you watch vampire hunters Randolph and Kate lurk through the haunted secret cove. Taken as captives, you are on the journey with them to see if they survive captivity. Make sure to dress up in your best costume, as there is a costume contest where prizes will be awarded on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

A tradition since 1924, the fall festival and Halloween parade first began with baseball legend Babe Ruth as the Grand Marshall for the event. The event held in downtown Anaheim includes doggy costume contests, Halloween parade, the Miss Anaheim fall festival and stage performances. With the combined support of the local business, schools and residents, the event has rejuvenated since its inception and fosters performers and artists for all their creativity. A nighttime pageant of ghosts, goblins, jack-o'-lanterns, and witches stretching a mile and a half through the darkened streets of downtown, the annual Anaheim Halloween Parade has become a Southern California family favorite.

The union of the orchestra and visual theater has brought the story of "Sorcer's Apprentice" Halloween spectacular with the Pacific Symphony to Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Concert Hall for a performance you won't want to miss. Don't forget to wear your costume for this event. The performance comes to life, telling the story of a maestro and his terrified assistant and the power of his baton, which also brings a stellar and ghoulish performance by the orchestra. Enjoy the music of Bach's Toccata and Fugue and Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain as they are creatively weaved into the performance.

The adaptation and direction by Brian Newell comes to life from Oct. 2 - Nov. 1 for a zombie classic of 'Night of The Living Dead'. The story of panicked survivors deserted at a farmhouse is perfect for the Halloween season as it includes flesh-eating zombies and more scariness. The original film was considered one of the most gruesome and scary films of the time, and the adaptation at the Maverick Theatre will create a live version of the cult classic film for scary film enthusiasts. This year marks the ten year anniversary of this performance during the Halloween season, and will not disappoint.

Let's not forget the kids during this Halloween season, as one of North Orange County's largest alternative Halloween events is held in downtown Brea. Not only is there stage entertainment, but the children can enjoy face painting, pony rides, games, petting zoos, raffles, prizes and much more. This will be the seventh year the community will gather to enjoy all of the ghoulish entertainment available for all ages to enjoy.
