A Food Affair opened at the end of 2012. It is family run and you can feel the warmth they've put into it. The décor reminds you of a rustic café with stone walls and flickering low light. The food is delicious with French favorites like Beef Bourguignon, Moule Frites, and an unforgettable Bouillbaisse de Marseille. The prices are reasonable and the owners and staff are beyond charming.
Comme Ça

West Hollywood, CA 90069

Comme Ça has an elegant black and white décor that makes you want to sit up straight and behave yourself. The wait staff is always helpful and open to diners' idiosyncrasies. The menu is traditional French with an oysters and onion soup to be raved about. Special occasions often have prix-fixe menus that are pricey but delicious.
Taix
1911 W. Sunset Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90026
(213) 484-1265
www.taixfrench.com
This restaurant has been in operation so long that not only could your grandparents have eaten there, they could have brought their parents. Opened in 1927, this place is an institution of French food in L.A. The rooms have an old Hollywood vibe and the menu is varied, including duck a l'orange on Saturdays, which you don't see often anymore.
Rive Gauche Café
14106 Ventura Blvd.
Sherman Oaks CA91423
(818)990-3573
This is another French restaurant that has been around for a long time (although not as long as Taix by a long shot) and the reason it has been around so long is that it is so good. The ambiance is warm and inviting. They also have a garden patio. The menu runs the gamut from salads and sandwiches to delectable seafood, and don't miss the lamb.
Mélisse
1104 Wilshire Blvd
Santa Monica, CA 90401
(310)395-0881
www.melisse.com
This is probably the most highly-acclaimed restaurant in Santa Monica, or Los Angeles for that matter. The rooms are modern in design with purple walls and a fire place. The menu is very expensive but everything is beautifully prepared and presented. The food is contemporary French with small portions. If you are looking for wow factor go no further. This is the place.
